Leadership decision preflight brief

A compact preflight for making sure an executive decision has the context, owner, and timing it needs.

In this guide
  1. Define the executive support outcome
  2. Match role scope to leadership cadence
  3. Use a structured selection process

Define the role

Before routing a decision, state the choice in one sentence, the date it matters, the accountable leader, and the consequence of waiting. This prevents a general update from arriving as an implied approval request.

Set the operating model

Add the evidence already available, the missing input, the people affected, and the smallest set of options. Support can assemble and clarify the brief without selecting the tradeoff for leadership.

Choose with care

After the decision, record the effective date, communication owner, and first proof point. The preflight is complete when the decision can move into an owned operating action.
